Plant gear we recommend
Greenprint is built on one idea: a plant thrives when its spot matches what it needs for light, water, and room to grow. The app finds that spot — this page is the gear we reach for to act on it. Everything here is something we actually use.

Grow lights
When Greenprint says a corner is too dark for the plant you want there, a grow light changes the answer instead of forcing a compromise. Our main pick puts out enough light for one or two large plants and has a built-in timer: FECiDA high-output grow light. For a tall floor plant, a standing lamp that reaches the canopy and blends in beside the pot: Aumtrly 68-inch floor grow light. For a shelf of smaller pots on a budget, a simple adjustable pair: yadoker LED grow lights (2-pack).
A light meter
Eyes are bad at judging brightness — a windowsill that feels bright can be a small fraction of what a plant wants, and light falls off fast as you move a pot back from the glass. A cheap lux meter turns Greenprint's light guidance into a real measurement: Dr.meter LX1330B light meter.
Put your lights on a schedule
Plants want a consistent day length, and you don't want to flip a switch every morning and night. A smart plug runs any lamp on a fixed cycle. A four-pack covers a whole plant shelf: Linkind Matter smart plug (4-pack).
A moisture meter
Overwatering kills more houseplants than anything else. A probe reads moisture down at the roots instead of the dry surface, so watering becomes a check rather than a guess — and Greenprint's reminders become the schedule you confirm against. XLUX T10 soil moisture meter.
Potting mix
A good bagged mix drains fast and holds air, which is most of what roots want. We use FoxFarm Happy Frog as a base and stir in a handful of perlite or bark for chunkier-rooted plants like monstera and philodendron.
Nursery pots and saucers
A drainage hole is non-negotiable — it's the line between "moist" and "rotting." Clear nursery pots also let you watch root growth and soil moisture without unpotting: GREENPARA clear nursery pots with saucers.
Healthy roots
Mycorrhizal fungi partner with roots and help a plant pull more water and nutrients from the same pot of soil. Worth mixing in at repotting or while a plant is recovering: Smart Grower mycorrhizal fungi.
Fertilizer
Even great light and the right pot go stale without nutrients topping up what watering rinses out of the soil. A liquid feed mixed into the watering can keeps that going without a separate step to remember: Happy Happy Houseplant Plant Food, a 9-3-6 formula gentle enough to use every time you water.
Moss poles for climbers
Pothos, monstera, and other climbers push bigger, more mature leaves once they can attach to something vertical. A coir pole gives the aerial roots a grip: coco coir moss poles (25-inch, 2-pack).
Propagation stations
Cuttings root fastest when the node sits in water and the leaves stay dry. These holders line a row of cuttings along the rim of a jar or tank: 7-hole propagation holder (2-pack), or for a larger setup with suction cups, the Borlech plant holder.
Keep leaves dust-free
Dust on a leaf is a film between the plant and its light — on a plant that's already in a dim spot, that margin matters. Microfiber gloves wipe both sides of a leaf in one pass: BLESS YOUR SOIL plant dusting gloves.
Pest control
Catching spider mites or fungus gnats early usually means a simple neem-oil routine instead of losing a plant. A ready-to-use spray is the low-friction option: Big Leaf Energy organic neem oil. For fungus gnats specifically, a biological soil drench goes after the larvae living in the potting mix instead of just the adults flying around your desk: Happy Happy Houseplant Fungus Gnat Death Drops.
Start with your plant's conditions
Before choosing new equipment, compare the light at your plant's current spot with another option using the bright, indirect light worksheet. If watering is the concern, use the watering guide and printable log to check the potting mix and track what changes.
Humidity
Tropical plants stall in dry indoor winter air, and browning leaf tips are the first sign. A room humidifier near a group of plants does more than misting ever will: Coolfiqu 6L warm and cool mist humidifier.
